"About 100 years ago, scientists perfected genetic modifications. You might know them as clones. However, clones were quickly outlawed by governments for, uhhh, ethical reasons. So the scientists then turned to a new experiment. Soulmates. Scientists had noticed that one of the large problems with the world were relationships. So they eventually developed a serum that could match to people together perfectly, not only genetically, but personality too. Now when everyone is born they are injected with said serum in order to match them with the perfect person. This is where we get soulmates. And I believe you know about the whole meet-on-your-18th-birthday heart light up thing, correct?" She finished, seemingly proud of her self for teaching so perfectly. "So your telling me that the whole magical attraction, glowing hearts, and excitement are the result of some science experiment!" "Yes, and however horrified you may be about this situation, the serum is genetic. If your parents were soulmates then you would of already had the serum inside of you, Ms. Williamson. Same for you Mr. Douglas. So, whatever kids you both have, even if it's not with each other, will have the serum too. Now, I must confess that your current, ummm finding, of each other is not the only reason I asked you to my office today. How do you two feel about superheroes?" ... Juliet Williamson has been dreaming of finding her soulmate since she first heard about them from one of her mothers drunken rambles. Rowan Douglas has been dreading meeting his soulmate since watching his parents die in attempts save each others lives. But everything changes when they first lock eyes. And while Juliet learns Rowan is not everything she dreamed, Rowan is learning Juliet is definitely not everything he dreaded.
