Alone

Irene, has the worst life ever. She has ADHD and a short temper. She lives in the dirty part of London. She has an abusive mother, who beats her, who smokes around her, and who drinks every day. Her father suddenly left her family when she was two. She has no friends. She is good at nothing but singing, and writing.

So, when she actually does fail the semester, her mother sends her to Irene's aunt, Sally Jackson. Irene, with her British accent, and her London ways, tries a new life in New York with her dyslexic and ADHD cousin, Percy Jackson. But she still feels like no one likes her in New York. Then just when school ends, Percy, who seemed like a nice person, begins to act weird around her like he suspects something.

The family gets an unexpected dinner visit from a man in a wheelchair who brings her and Percy to a camp called Camp Half-Blood. There people, tell her that the Greek myths she learn in school are true and that her father is a God, who will claim her. But when, her father doesn't claim her and she learns Percy is the most popular person in camp, she feels left out, and alone.
