Avery Jennings was always known as the quiet, shy, nerdy blonde girl with large black rimmed glasses, and brains you'd kill for. She liked keeping to herself, meaning her list of friends was basically nonexistent. So when she gets blamed for a crime she didn't commit and there's no one to fight for her freedom, she gets sent to Juvie for six months and her life is flipped completely upside down. She missed the last four months of school, and all of the summer. She got out just in time to start senior year. Only this time she wasn't going back to the school she'd known for years, no, she was moving all the way across the country. Once she's away from her parents, who so cruelly disowned her and gave her aunt Judy full custody, she flies from New York, to the great California. She's finally out of Juvie and she realizes, what the heck, new country, new town, why not new life? So she changes everything about herself. She drops the glasses, dyes her hair, buys a whole new wardrobe, and even changes her attitude. But what if along the way she meets a certain someone who will show her just how fun life can be? Someone who breaks her completely out of her shell, not leaving any traces if the girl she used to be? Then there's Drew, the badass of the town, yes town. Everyone knew who he was. He played girls, he was allegedly in a gang, he was the kind of boy a father would never want his daughter to even meet. He's got problems only he knows about and he wants to keep it that way, but when a nosy blonde girl snoops through his yard and sees something she wasn't supposed to see, he forces his way into her life to make sure she keeps her mouth shut, but he ends up actually becoming friends with her. So what'll happen between the two? Will they stay friends or will she find out the real reason he showed any interest in her and ditch him? If so, will she ever be able to forgive him for it?

I smiled at him but tears were starting to blur my vision together. "I hate you." His smile faltered and he looked taken back, "Not like that, Drake. I hate you because you make me cry. You're supposed to beat up the guys who make me cry, not be one of them." "But they are happy tears, right?" he clarified. I smiled and nodded my head, before gripping his shirt, pulling his body against mine. "I'll never make you cry because you're sad, understood? I'm never leaving you." I didn't respond this time, I just sat in his lap, holding his torso and he played with my hair. "I don't know if I can let you in yet Drake," I told him truthfully, the one thing I had been dreading telling him. "I know. But I'll never hurt you like the others have. I-"he cut himself off and took a deep breath. "Riley?" he moved me away from his shirt. I looked at him in the eyes and say an emotion. One I hadn't seen in a long time and one I haven't seen in his eyes before. "Can I kiss you?" __________________ Drake was the player of the school. Everyone knew his name. Riley was the nerd of the school. No one knew her name. Complete opposites but for some reason, opposites seemed to attract. Riley knew that Drake had a new girl every week, but she felt like she could change him. And maybe she could. Maybe she'd be different. *Based on a true story*
