Cinder Mellark didn't know what happened to her mother. She heard whispers as she walked by, talks of birds and whispers of revolution. Everyone seemed to know her name and stared at her wherever she went. Cinder didn't know what happened to her mother, all she knew was that she was gone, and her and her brother Rye were oblivious as to what happened to her.
This is Cinder's reality:
Her father cries most nights, and spends most days in the empty house next door to theirs.
When the world is too much, she writes letters to her mother, in the hope that when she comes back, she can read them and catch up.
They trudge to the main square each year, for the reaping.
The poor mine coal and starve to death without the bat of an eyelid from the Capitol.
There is rubble that surrounds the streets and she doesn't know why.
Her father loves her and Rye but she can see he's hurting.
He whispers things under his breath.
Whispers words like 'Revolution.'

Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her twelve year old sister for this event called The Hunger Games where twenty four children fight to the death and only one comes out as victor. A boy named Peeta Mellark was reaped alongside her. These two come out of the games as "Starcrossed Lovers". This caused a few uprisings in some districts. President Snow doesn't want another rebellion so he sends Katniss and Peeta back into the games with other Victors from each district. This causes a whole other war and this time, the districts pull out on top. The Hunger Games are ended and Snow is executed and everyone is safe again. Yeah, let's fast foward about fifty years.
