Skylar has a dark past that she ran away from. She was urged to come up with a plan to leave behind people she loved, people who loved her and basically her whole life. That was quite reckless but she couldn't think of anything better. She longs for home but it's too late to change what happened and either way, her home isn't what it used to be.
Imagine the person who broke you and left you to deal with that, comes back into your life out of the blue and tells you: "I can fix it - my mistakes. I can fix it."
