It's been twenty years since Earth lost the war against the extra-terrestrial threat. XCOM Headquarters was destroyed, its personnel killed and imprisoned.
Now, the ADVENT Coalition rules the world, a human government controlled by the aliens. They have crushed all attempts of resistance against them, managing to find different resistance havens and obliterate them.
But there is still hope.
Some of XCOM's operatives managed to fight their way clear of the alien assault on XCOM HQ all those years ago. With them, John Bradford, or 'Central', and Chief Engineer Shen escaped, fleeing into the wilderness. They've been operating in the shadows since then, from their new mobile headquarters, the Avenger, a commandeered alien transport. Now, as ADVENT is becoming increasingly active, they have decided to come out of the darkness. XCOM fights again.
The war isn't over. Remain Vigilant.

The Abyss of Time
Twenty years after the end of the Cyborg War, the last cyborgs try to hijack a starship on its way to terraform an alien world. They want the new colony to be a cyborg colony in which they will rebuild their strength and practice their way of life. During the fighting, though, the starship is damaged, so that instead of travelling light years across space it ends up a billion years in the future, alongside a planet Earth that is near the end of its life. The cyborgs, momentarily defeated, leave the ship in a captured landing craft and go down to the planet, but before they go they sabotage the ship so that it is no longer able to support life. The abduction of the Commander was nothing short of a death blow to any chance that Humanity could repel ADVENT from Earth. It was like the flame that kept the Human Resistance ablaze had been snuffed out. John Bradford took the failure of XCOM and the cause for what came to be called Unification Day completely on his shoulders, promising that if he ever again found her, that he would never allow any harm to come to the Commander. After he rescues her from a sarcophagus, the man who waited two decades for his mentor is now faced with an impossible chance-and forces the Commander to question if she is willing to risk the fragile future of the Initiative for a gamble at a happiness she never believed to be possible. The Invaders Must Die
By the year 2015 humans have developed practical means of interstellar travel, but as they expand further out into the Milky Way, they disturb a previously unknown race of alien beings. Very shortly after the USAs United National Space Command [UNSC] discovers their exsitence, the aliens, known as Ecarians, send several scouting parties out to find the humans planet. One of the scouting parties lands outside of Des Plaines, Illinois which has a heavy population of supernaturals. One of them, a Sergeant from the local SWAT team by the name of Zuton Cruton, befriends one of the aliens, Zorra. She convinces the leader of their squad, Will, who is also the Deputy of the aliens, to ask to call off the attack. He aggrees, but his request is harshly denied and he and several other aliens defect to the humans side just in time for the invasion by the Ecarian Space Navy [ESN] of Earth...
