Forced living inside PAOV's walls has its benefits. Free, provided blood, shelter, protection from hunters... It's what seems to be the ideal place for vampires to live their lives. Even if it's run by humans. But such ideal places always have their secrets.

Haster is a bit of an asshole. Sneaking out, feeding off humans, questioning every single rule-- its quite clear that the PAOV heads don't like him. So when he's placed on unit arrest for killing a human, they seize the opportunity to use his hugely tainted record against him. "Making up for your errors" is what Lucille calls it. Community service, mopping floors, and delivering blood from unit to unit is considered his second punishment. 

His third punishment, however, is still unknown to him, and Haster figures it'll be something stupid like his first two.

But while he's stuck by himself on unit arrest, he starts to probe at real questions he'd never considered before. Why are the heads of PAOV humans? Why does nobody question the officials? Why do some vampires just 'disappear'? And where the hell does all the damn blood come from?

I smelt something calming, like the smell of rain and vanilla and suddenly, a guy came in charging at Gabriel. Gabriel didn't have any time to react as he was knocked to the ground. I stared at them in shock as I backed away, not knowing what to do. " Leave him alone! " I yell at the stranger throwing my hands in the air. This gets the guys attention and I notice the aura around him, telling me he's an Alpha. He starts stalking towards me as Gabriel struggled to get up, " Run Reagan! I noticed it was the stranger as he made me face towards him. He crouched down at eye level as he stared into my ocean blue eyes with his sincere chocolate brown eyes. My eyes widened when he said the word that I've been dying to hear since I was a little girl. " Mate. " Reagan's been dreaming of finding her mate since she learned about them. Her twin brother found his a few weeks ago and Reagan's been dying to find her equal. What happens when she find out her mates the cold hearted Alpha that she's been told cruel stories about. She knew she wouldn't be able to live with herself if the monster chasing her hurt her family. The river comes into view when a bone curling growl sounds throughout the forest, shaking the trees. A few more seconds she thinks to herself, almost there. At the last step she jumps, flinging herself into the water. Frantically she scrapes at her skin to get their scents off, but knowing she can't be caught de-scenting she starting swimming down stream. Better to be caught running than them thinking you have something to hide.
