Charles knew of this but he couldn't care less, even if this mission could be the one way ticket to death, he only wanted his family to know that his father started something great and left it for his son he love so greatly to finish. Space is fascinating but it is brutal, stars thousands of degrees hot, planets with heat so intense that the second you step on it you will vaporized, but again Charles didn't care, he had a passion for it and he wanted to finish the journey to the first life filled planet that's reachable for humans.
