In the year 2100, magic returned to Earth . It raced across the planet's surface unrestrained, changing and creating life. The world was thrown into disarray; humanity was unable to cope with the great alterations to their reality. And so the vampires took their chance. The only survivors from an elder age when magic still was the norm, the vampires have lived in the shadows of the human world for centuries. Now, they use their knowledge of magic to seize power over the humans and magically altered meta-humans, oppressing the world's population and demanding regular tribute. Of course, not everyone can deal with that. Follow Sarah Pike and the rest of her resistance (Walter, a boy with an ancient Aztec Snake God living inside him; Paul, an undead "skelly" resurrected by necromantic magic; and Debs, a meta-human chemist who used to work directly under the vampires) as they wage silent war against their bloodsucking overlords.

I don't know if I died or not, but the moment I regained my consciousness, I was already standing on a field full of grass and surrounded by trees. "W-what is that...?" A screen was floating in front of me. 「 Welcome, new adventurer! 」 "Adventur...rer?" But..... I'm so small! My body is the size of a 9 year old kid! And I don't even know what the hell happened to me. After I read some information on the screen, I was amazed that the world I was in was like a VRMMORPG. Magic exists and so does the level. "Huh?" When I look at my status, I'm not neither a mage that cast magic nor a swordsman that wields a sword, instead.... I'm a puppeteer! Will I survive in this new world despite knowing that I don't have a place to stay or food to eat? Note: This is more likely in Fantasy. Magic goes bruh broom brr. Identity crisis? What's that? ---- An earthling's soul was born into an incompatible, human body. Their muscles misbehaved, their skin and body felt like a rigid shell, and their weak constitution left little options for any activities outside of paperwork, books and anything on a screen at home. Then the divine beings tried to correct the mistake and removed the mismatched soul from its unfitting body, slinging it to a distant world with a new body to control. The human flesh-prison replaced with the unlimited options of a shapeshifter, the soul has now a magic-filled world to explore. Grow fur for a mountain hike, grow gills and fins for a deep dive. It's time to catch up on decades worth of missed travels and activities. But who wants to deal with the flesh-craving predators called shapeshifters? Another global purge could start, if the freshly transferred soul shows its abilities too much. ---- The rankings are a mystery to me - especially after this story made it to No. 1 under the shapeshifter tag (and others). Welcome to fantasy amateur hours! This is my first time writing that kind of novel. Hopefully there's a bit of improvement along the way. Feel free to tell me what works or not! It is rare that a human is aware of the world that lives among them. Life went chaotic so mental stability was not in the plan for a long time. Now, this is going to be going through some adjustments because it has been so long since a lot of the original events that I planned actually happened in my life plus a lot of new ones.
