There are things that Áine Tracey knows about her family. She knows that the family legacy is a long, bloody one, and that her father holds New York City's drug trade in two tight hands. However, he has never been let down by his incredible intellect. Others know this as well--including the members of his town's skillfully concealed criminal alliance, Decadent. Being a young, clever lad whose name is scarcely known in his hometown of New Haven, Connecticut, he is the perfect contender for induction. In other words, their ideal new recruit. For all of his life, Lionel has never been a trouble-maker; not once a delinquent, a hot-head, or a player of any kind. However, Decadent has been known to change people--to change their paradigm and how they view themselves and the world around them. It has also been known that after a while, those members who were hesitant will no longer want to leave. He's a dangerous man despite his calm and aloof appearance and it doesn't help that he has a huge bounty on his head. Levi gets shot taking down a huge crime syndicate and that's pretty much how he envisions his life ending. Surprisingly, Simone, a total stranger comes to his rescue and let's him hide out at her place, despite how it's destined not to work. Put together a man with a bounty on his head, a woman with too much to lose, throw in a healthy dose of trauma, teenagers, toddlers, sharing a bed with a stranger and you're bound to have a royal mess. Let's not forget the most important part, they can't fall for each other because that just takes the stakes up, you don't just wake up and get attracted to an assassin so you can be used as mafia bait, basically destined not to work. That's what this is, a mess that shouldn't work. But it does. And everything goes to shit because of it. A story about love, assassination, family and healing from trauma.Concluida
