Aubrey is different. She rarely leaves the house. She hasn't ever been to an actual school. Aubrey suffers from Congenital insensitivity to pain. This means that she cannot feel physical pain. Justin is a delinquent. He is rarely home. He has been in and out of trouble at school. His mother soon dies from a massive heart attack. An old family friend, also Aubrey's mother, will take him in. Justin encourages Aubrey to take risks, and Aubrey shows Justin that there is a higher pain than what he is feeling. But which one of them really is more delicate than the other?

Lexie Parrish has a talent for ruining everything. Friendships? Check. Jobs? Check. Love? Well... let's not get into that. When her latest mistake lands her on the street, Lexie has no choice but to turn to the one person she can trust: her older sister, Beth. Beth's life is perfect: a stable marriage, a loving daughter, and a career that actually makes sense. Lexie's presence? Not so much. But as she crashes at their house, Lexie realizes that maybe hitting rock bottom with family isn't the worst thing in the world. Maybe she can somehow survive long enough to fix her life. This is a story about hitting bottom, but in the most human, awkward, kind of funny way possible.
