Everyone has a soulmate in this town. And the first words that your soulmate says are tattooed on your arm from birth - kind of like a birthmark. It starts out a light gray, and turns an inky black when you find your soulmate. Some people meet their soulmates immediately, grow up with them, and some people meet theirs at 80, 90 years old. It varies by person. There are also those parents who remove their child's soul-mark after birth, taking away their chances of recognizing their soulmate when they meet them.
Meet Amethyst. Tall, blonde, prone to accidents, clumsy as heck, with "It's fine! I wasn't paying attention!" tattooed on her wrist. She desperately wants to find her soulmate, but at the same time dreads the day it's going to happen. Because her father is an avid homophobe, and she has always liked girls. And also because the secret her mother left her with when she ran away is becoming harder and harder to hide.
