Why Is My BLACK not BEAUTIFUL

Black hands and Black skin

what is this?

In a society

where this skin

is a sin.

Trying my best

to hold on

to the things

I cling to

to put on

to look.

Beautiful.

They are ashamed

when I step out

even with my

classy, eloquent, knowledgeable self.

To them my black

is not beautiful.

So judgmental.

I stand high

and proud.

Because

My Black is Beautiful.

So

why is

my black not beautiful

to

them.
