James is the popular, attractive, sweet, prankster jock of the third year. As he enters his third year at Hogwarts with confidence (and a lot of pranks) Albus, his younger, first-year brother, can't get his fear out of his head... the fear of being Sorted into Slytherin.

Rose Weasley, who's been best friends (or best cousins) with Albus since they were babies, gets some-quite new-space from him this year. As she befriends someone unlikely, Albus is sulking. He isn't fond of Scorpius Malfoy at all-doesn't Rose remember all the terrible things his father did to their parents? But soon he realizes that Scorpius might not be that bad anyway... and his growing friendship with the boy turns complicated... maybe even more than friendship? Little does Albus know that Rose and Scorpius have the same relationship as he and Scorpius do... Will this drive him and his best friend since birth apart?

Draco seems to be implanting even more hostile portrayals of Harry Potter and his children in Scorpius' perception of them. His hate for that man seems unable to grow... it's abnormal. But when Scorpius finds out why his father loathes the Boy Who Lived so much, it's a shock... a shock that sends his entire interpretation of Draco spinning off course.
