“I know who you are.” The old man said.
“How can you know? Only God knows truly who I am.” I said feeling somewhat astonished.
He smiled and said “God has told me.”
“Then who am I?” I asked as if to prove him wrong.
“You are a man from the farthest land in search of something that is lost.”
“What is lost?”
“Your peace of mind. Your peace of heart.” He was smiling.
“How is it lost?” I asked angrily.
“You lost something dear to you.” He was still smiling.
“What did I lose?” I heard myself shouting.
“Your wife….” He said in a low voice.
“But I hated my wife. I didn’t lose her. I myself forced her out of my life. How could I be missing her?” I said as if to prove some point.
“Your wife existed inside of you not outside. The one that was outside only made stronger the one inside.
The inside was real. The outside was imaginary but you believed the opposite.
When the outside showed real colors of itself you saw yourself as a victim of some trick and so you reacted.” He paused for some moments then he said, “Your real wife was inside you. The outside just led you to it.” After some silence he said, “It is still inside you. Just close your eyes and see…..”
Tears started to roll on my cheek….One after another……I could not believe myself….I was crying and it felt good….I was crying with happiness. I was crying and crying and thinking how foolish I was.
“Who are you?”I asked him.
“Just a humble servent of God.”
“What is your name?”
“My name….my name is Abdullah.”
