Mensen kwamen dichterbij naarmate de vreemdeling stopte bij de o zo bekende melaatse. De arme jongen had de ziekte van kleins af aan en werd zo veel mogelijk gemeden door dorpelingen en zelfs verre familieleden. Hij knielde voor de jongen neer en staarde naar de verschillende vlekken en oneffenheden op het gezicht van de bange jongen. De aandacht vestigde weer wanneer de man zijn hand hief en een blauwe walm verscheen. Met open monden staarde menig man naar de vreemdeling die de walm over het gezicht van de jongen bracht. De jongen op de grond gaf amper geluid en liet de vreemdeling zijn gang gaan. Wanneer hij klaar was zochten de mensenmassa het gezicht van de zonet nog melaatse op. Op magische wijze was de lepra verdwenen en straalde het gezicht van de jongen, die zich knielde voor de vreemdeling en zijn voeten kuste. De vreemdeling pakte de handen van de jongen en hielp hem overeind. Zijn kap was wat verschoven en bruine krullen kwamen tevoorschijn. Voor de vreemdeling iets kon zeggen tegen de jongen werd hij geslagen tegen het hoofd en verloor het bewustzijn...All Rights Reserved
