In the not-so-distant future lives Gwen Asymmetry, a girl who holds herself together with cigarette butts and old-fashioned love songs; after all, she’s run out of things to look forward to in the polluted settlement of China Grove City. Her friends have resorted to street-fighting and human experimentation, respectively, and after a hideous meat factory accident her reconstructed boyfriend is more machine than man (physically, anyway). Gwen plans to run away from the grime and soot of her hometown, but with the entire world in ruin, where is there left to go?
