Life has been busy. But I am glad to see you making a change for the better. If that is or was in your mind." I just nod. "My life wasn't fair there." I open up about what has been happening. "It was always about my step siblings or step mom. Always expecting me to be there, when they weren't there for me. Being expected to drop everything even if they knew several months in advance. My step mom wasn't the parent I needed. And my dad didn't step in to stop it." My mom sighs, just nodding as she listens. I know I should have chosen to live with her. But all those years ago my dad wasn't dating anyone. But to be honest neither was my mom. I feel bad now choosing dad over her.
