It takes four people working together for a relay team to work, but sometimes all of the members don't get the memo. 

Luke was a track star, he was known for his speed and his long, confident strides and for his hatred of losing.

Calum was a rich kid, he never had to fight for anything. He was known as the fastest on the track and the fastest in his relay team. That was until Luke came along, now he had to prove he was the best. 

Ashton was the fastest second leg that the school had ever seen. He just was always tardy for practice. 

Michael was on the benches. He'd rather read a book than be on the track the others in the team. Now he's stuck on the track expect to go out of his comfort zone to help the school get back their record.

While on tour Ashton has been struggling the past couple of months, while no one seems to notice, until Luke does one day. Luke who has started drinking again struggles to contain his back and forth mindset with his feelings towards Ashton and his own issues. Luke's battle with substance abuse and Ashton's declining mental health, mixed into their already crazy lives, starts a horrible downhill spiral for one of them. Trigger warning This book contains graphic descriptions and feelings that the reader may be trigger by, please read at your comfort level, this book is also incomplete and I haven't edited the chapters at the top to contain trigger warnings yet. -work in progress- Started in 2017 and picked up again in 2024. I feel like my writing has changed a lot since 2017, very unedited, just something for me to do/ keep me occupied.

Calum had been in jail 3 years of accused murder. No one talked to him in jail. Everyone actually feared him. When he was released the first thing he did was go to a music shop around the neighborhood. He didn't have anywhere to go so he was just going to stroll around. While he walked down the street he bumped into a boy. The boy went to apologize but then he looked to see who it was. He gasped slightly. Before he could say anything Calum walked off not wanting to associate in any way with the blonde hair and blue eyes. But Luke.. he knew exactly who Calum was. He knew of him and was told many times to stay away. But something drew him to Calum. He was a mystery. Luke liked that. He wanted to solve this boys mystery and he was going to need to be near him to solve it.

Ashton was a model and was constantly on the move, needing to be in perfect condition at all times. That's what Calum was there for. Calum Hood was the stereotypical jock in high school. He was the star of the football team and basketball team. The majority of his old classmates loved him, envied him, or wanted to be him. Now that he was at the University of Melbourne on a football scholarship, he was hoping to reach that status yet again. He wasn't a lame geek that was going to spend his weekends studying and doing boring homework that wouldn't benefit him. Classes and grades and nerds weren't about to get in his way of that. Ashton Irwin was considered a nerdy hipster. He was more into the arts and academics of things, his strong suit being English and art history. Not only that, but he had a passion for music as well. He was a talented singer that helped get him a full ride scholarship to the University of Melbourne, along with his exceptional knowledge in English. Though, he wasn't at all popular in high school. He was quite the opposite and he was okay with it. He didn't want to be popular and have his every move analyzed. It also meant that he would've had to hangout with the jocks, who he didn't like at all. Now, due to his uni class schedule, he would be free of the majority of the jocks and hopefully frat boys. They were bullies and he didn't want to have to be associated with any of them. He would make sure of that. Micheal once was happy and free, never shedding a tear, but when his mother died in a horrible car accident two years ago he became depressed, suicidal, and started cutting. He is better now with the help of his best friend Ashton but he still has the bad habit of cutting. When he meets Calum his whole life turns upside down. He both wants to shred his hole body and never cut again at the same time. This boy confuses him like no other but when he wants to keep it a secret he has no choice but to obey. Ashton has had anxiety attacks since the time he was seven when his dad started beating him. Around three years ago someone found out and Ashton was taken away. His best friend Michael and his family took him in. He is now going to college and is hoping to make a new start but his anxiety starts to get the best of him as the stress of college thickens. Maybe his new friend Luke can help him more then Ashton knows. Luke was bullied all his life for being fat. He would come home from school crying into his mother's arms. He became so depressed that he stopped eating all together. One day he looked in the mirror and realized that he was losing weight. He stopped getting bullied but still continued not to eat unable to shake the disease. He soon became hospitalized and started to eat again but after he got rejected by multiple collages his self esteem went down and he stopped eating. Twenty nine year old advertising executive Michael Clifford and his best mate Calum Hood are at their usual haunt, having a night out clubbing. Michael meets Luke, a teenager venturing out in the gay nightlife for the first time. Michael takes Luke home with him for the night, and gradually Luke begins to find out more about gay life through a close circle of friends. ~~~ A blatant take on the Queer As Folk TV series that ran in the UK 1999-2000 & was remade in the USA 2000-2005. These series dealt with gay rights and social issues featuring storylines concerning homophobia, HIV & AIDS, Proposition 14 (USA version), violence/gay bashing, coming out, drug use, gay marriage & parental rights amongst others. The original UK series was set in Manchester, the US version in Pittsburg, I have set this version in Sydney at the same time (Early 90's) and have kept the original music that was first used in the UK version and re-used in the US version. I've renamed the characters (obviously) and also place names etc to suit the change in city. I've also added in some Australian-ness to suit the location. If you haven't seen the TV series, the UK version was ground breaking for it's time, nothing like it had been seen before and it sent controversial waves rippling which Showtime picked up on. They re-made it for a US audience, using nearly the exact same script before carrying it on and expanding it into 5 series. I highly recommend you watch if you can! Rights belong to Showtime and Cowlip.
