Since she was a young child Raena a highborn Elf has visited the kingdom of Greenwood as duty says she must. As a result of this she has always been a part of Thranduil's life. She has always been by his side as one of his closest friends...But it was always more than that between them. 

After the death of his father, Thranduil marries another promptly breaking Raena's heart and his own. However, everything changed when Thranduil's wife, Daeris, perished or was thought to have perished, leaving their young son Legolas behind. 

With the death of his wife both Thranduil and Raena most overcome many things, and find the truth behind the new danger that threatens everything they hold dear.

But the unit escorting the prince is attacked on the way and Legolas, after barely escaping, then fleas to the most unlikely of places where he hides, refusing to tell anyone of his whereabouts, afraid to go to Imladris, afraid to go home. This story fills in some gaps from The Return and creates a few more that I may delve into in a later fic. When lives are threatened, Thranduil must make a choice: his kingdom or his heart. 12/14/21- y'all I wrote this in high school and I kinda want to go through it again and do a bunch of editing. Some of my writing makes me cringe and what are we here for if not improvement. That being said, this story will change starting today probably and if you're in the middle of it, hopefully I don't confuse details or timelines for you. If you've already read it once and just felt like you had to read it again, maybe it will provide some new enjoyment. Who knows? Maybe I'll actually finish some other stuff I have on here.
