This is an alternate storyline taking place during and after the episode "Storm the Castle."
After the wand is destroyed, Star realizes with horror that Marco is not where he had been during the explosion. Frantically searching the smashed remains of the castle, it becomes obvious that she is all alone, with no trace of her friend. It is up to her to find him, no matter the cost.
A slight warning: this story will be quite dark and depressing, soooo.... Be prepared for feels.
