Swear words and hysterical laughter filled the dark alley. About five guys wore black hoodies, with masks covering their faces.
"I need more time" a voice pleaded. The voice filled me with familiarity. I knew the person. Ellie and I were behind the corner, watching the horrific scene play out.
"We gave you five months. Where is it?" A voice in a dark growl shouted. He stood broad shouldered on front of the other four hooded figures, something told me he was the leader.
The only light was the moon that was illuminating the sky above our heads. Stars were concealed behind the thick never ending fog that threatened to take away my vision from the scene.
"Please, I'm not ready yet. I swear, I will be soon" the familiar voice begged.
"You had time!" The leader shouted. Swear words rang from every voice hidden under the hoodies. One of the males grabbed out an object that glimmered from where Ellie and I stood behind the corner, watching in terror. It was a shiny gun. I wasn't a huge gun fanatic so I can't really say what kind of gun it was. I had no feeling of pity as much as I wanted to. Maybe the person deserved it.
One by one the males grabbed out their guns.
"No, no, no" Ellie cried in my hand. I pulled her close to me possessively to keep her from wanting to runaway.
"Please, "Give me more time."
"One, two, three" the leader counted down. At five he swore. Then all of his guys pulled on their triggers.
This book wouldn't be a book if not for my best friend, Jasmine. I hope you enjoy it :)

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?

"it's time". At the grave tone of his voice, I peak up at the sky to notice the once bright sky had painted itself in dark crimson. The sky is sored with black thin streaks which is beginning to form as all the once twinkling stars seems to have disappeared leaving only the now faint red moon. I inhale a huge amount of air; turning to stare at Luke. "You look surprisedly calm. How are you not scared of the chaos approaching? " A small silence follows after. He turns around and took lazy careful strides towards me; stopping only when both peaks of our shoes touched the other. The side of his lips curls up in a wicked smile as he leans in closer until I can smell nothing but his all so familiar musky wood mixed with a bit of oranges scent flow gently into my nostrils. "I watched my family being brutally killed before my eyes sweetheart. Trust me I am the chaos they should be scared of." I'm injured, so I can't run after you," He said then stared at my bleeding shoulder and gave me an apologetic, hurt-filled look, "You're injured as well, just let us both have a talk. Please."
