After Annie gets checked out at a hospital, she gets diagnosed with stage 2 osteosarcoma cancer with a tumor growing in her left leg. This now means constant hospital visits, chemotherapy, and possibly leg surgery, depending if the tumor grows any more. The only way she can cope with being cooped up in the hospital or in her house all the time is when her best friend, Brennan Donnelly, comes to visit her, telling her constant stories and having deep conversations to help cheer her up. So one day, when she and Brennan are just 'joking around', they come up with an inside joke for Annie's condition; the self destruct button. When Hayley joins dance and becomes National Champion for one of her solos, and Annie signs a record deal and is now on her own TV show, the family comes across an issue. Their dad needs to stay in Maryland for work, and their mom needs to support Hayley, but also needs to be there for Annie. What will Annie do? She needs to be in LA, her whole career is there! The family has no choice but to send her to LA on her own for a few months until her mom can get there. She moves in with Rebecca and Matt and starts her journey, maybe meeting a few more people on her way.Complete
