Ever since the death of Christine's father Kent McGuire, a country legend, her life has never been the same. Her mother becomes an alcoholic, and Christine now has to work to help support them. As if that wasn't enough pressure, she's a sophomore trying to keep her grades up in order to earn a scholarship. Needing an escape from everything, she creates a YouTube channel and begins posting videos of songs that she writes. Her guitar becomes her stress relief. As she posts more and more videos, an anonymous person begins leaving advice and becomes almost a personal mentor. When her best friend Megan finds out about the songs she has written, she tries to convince her to audition for the high school's upcoming talent show.
