At the age of three, every human receives an animal companion. When they meet, they will be branded to each other, revealing the others name somewhere upon themselves in white ink. It is said that our companion was chosen by fate, reflecting ourselves in some way, and that we are to be reincarnated into them in our next life. Their job is to prepare us, teach us for our next life until the age of 20 when they die.
