At least she had always had her best friend Aidan to watch her back. In eighth grade, Cassie is forced to move to Ohio and leave her best friend behind. She learns that if nobody's there to stick up for her, life is living hell. She stops bringing her comics to school, changes out her glasses for contacts, and does what she can to to fit in. Even worse than school is her stepfather, Steven, who has been abusing her for the past year. When she finally calls the police, Steven is put in jail and Cassie and her mom get as far away from him as possible, which means moving back home to the life she left behind. Cassie comes back in time for senior year and just wants things to go back to the way they were. Instead she discovers a new life better than anything she could have imagined.

Soon they were playing with Cupid's arrows trying to set up the unlikeliest couple imaginable, but what they seemed to have forgotten was Fate's wierd sense of humor and so it turned out while they were playing with Cupid's Arrows, he was aiming them at these two instead.
