On the very same day that Brian Warner decided to take command of his life by quitting his twenty year nicotine addiction which, he began to suspect had been detrimental to any professional success, he is idly dismissed from Datadotcom where he had worked as a Senior Statistician  for nearly thirty years providing continuous, loyal service.  As Brian comes to rationalise Datadotcoms decision for his dismissal his own maddening processes begins to weaken his judgements leaving him in a state of neither awakened or  cynical
