I dropped it baby I dropped the ball I meant to be your everything I meant to do it all I can't even begin to say I'm sorry It will never be enough I understand if you can't forgive me Being my child was just to rough I'm not her anymore A woman child who didn't know Wrapped up in my sadness I didn't help you grow I didn't ease your way Or guide you on your path I resented what I never had and showed you all my wrath I passed on what I learned I knew no other way If I could do it all again I'd be a better mom today When you get the chance to heal Please embrace your truth You were not responsible for the reactions of your youth You deserved so much better An overflow of love I will not make excuses But ask you to rise above Don't carry on that legacy It's time to let things go The clearer you see the past The more you get to know I love you with all that I am May your light lead the way and if you find it in your heart Come back to me someday.

I've tried to release this pain in so many different ways; But writing about you seems to be one of my faves. I don't understand how I find closure When I know it only lasts until the poem is over. Somehow it feels like some sort of imaginary relief to my reality. As if, the pain I feel only exists until the words are free. I know how crazy it may seem Because the heartbreak will always be there; And I will never un-feel what you've done to me.
