Why could she not remember?
Hermione wakes up in the hospital wing at Hogwarts with Ron holding her hand. Her last memory is of him leaving her in the cold forest alone with Harry and her heart breaking. He offers her a reason for her lost memories, but something about the story doesn't ring true for Hermione, though Ron seems to believe it.

Hermione is faced with more questions than anyone is willing to answer. Though Harry encourages her to try to move on with her life, those lost memories still affect her heart and she doesn't understand why. She will do anything to figure it out. Even accepting help from an unlikely partner.

Life takes many different twists and turns as Hermione Granger has to make decisions about her future and what she will do when she leaves the sanctuary of Hogwarts. First, she needs her memories back.

The story that she is told about what happened during the time she has forgotten doesn't feel right. Though everyone tells her the same story. Hermione has to know why her heart seems to remember something completely different than what others have told her has happened.

Please give me feedback and vote!!! This is my first published work, it is not edited (literal first draft) so be kind:)
I am working on other original stories, but there is this little pesky thing called college that keeps getting in the way.

I DO NOT OWN THESE CHARACTERS!!! THEY BELONG TO THE GREAT JK ROWLINGS. ONLY THE PLOT
IS MY OWN.

***I have never written fanfiction before. Who knew that this would be SO MUCH FUN!!!

"Did you know that your name is a dragon constellation?" She could hear Draco chuckle at what she just said as she faced him, wearing this grin on his face. "If I didn't know that then my grandaunt Wilburga would have my head." "Right," Finley grinned to herself as she looked down on her shoes. "Did you?" "Did I what?" Draco asks her. Turning his attention to her to see her frowning slightly at the ground, her brows furrowed with a small frown on her lips, looking like she had a lot of thought in mind. "Did you put your name in?" She asked him, "I know it's none of my business, but-" "I did." "Oh," she pauses. "Why? Scared for your brother?" "I am," she answers truthfully. "Just the idea of him being in danger scares me," she pursed her lips. "Well," Draco sighed, taking his back off the train car's side, and shoving his hands in his coat pockets. "It's not like the cup would pick him in the first place, right?" He tried to comfort her with a warm look on his face. "Right," she gives him a small smile, she could tell that he was comforting her just a little bit. And it worked. ~ ~ ~ ~ "In which she tried to shrug it off as a god awful dream." ~ ~ ~ ~ The story continues as Miss Slytherin maneuvers her new life thinking that all the awful things she's felt were all just a dream. (I do not own Harry Potter and its characters, all of them belong to JK Rowling. The book's plot and my characters that are not originally in HP are entirely mine alone as well as some settings that are not included in the books.)

***PREVIEW*** ~~~~ A moan escaped her, and he abruptly ended the passionate moment. He pulled away, leaning his forehead on hers, their heavy breaths mixing in the space between them. Malfoy's thumb caressed Dahlia's cheek, and her eyes fluttered open to meet his. "You aren't expendable to me," Draco hissed forcefully. "Do you understand?" Dahlia couldn't form words. She tried, but none came so instead she nodded. "Words, Dumbledore, use your words." Hissing at the use of her surname, she looked up at him and snarled, "Understood, Malfoy." He didn't seem put off by her anger. Rather, he seemed pleased with himself. He gave a nod to her, and then locked eyes with Harry for half a second. The boys seemed to have a silent, nonverbal conversation before Potter inclined his head to the Slytherin, who did the same. Then the blonde boy disappeared through the flap of the tent. ~~~~~~~~ Dahlia Dumbledore is a young girl with a confusing past. Hermione Jean Granger was abandoned before she even knew who she was. Left in a trash bin behind a forgotten café in Hogsmeade, wrapped in a scrap of cloth, she should have been another tragic story. But Albus Dumbledore found her. He took her in, perhaps believing he could save her. But Hermione wasn't one to be saved. By seven, the resentment in her heart had grown too strong, pushing her to reject him, and everything he stood for. She chose to be an orphan-an outsider-rather than accept his care. When her Hogwarts letter arrives at eleven, it feels like destiny knocking at her door. She knows who the headmaster is, yet she walks into the castle with her chin high, her heart cold. The Sorting Hat barely touches her head before wailing out "Slytherin!."-a choice so blatantly obvious to everyone but her. In Slytherin, Hermione surprisingly finds her place. She meets Draco Malfoy, heir and legacy to the most prestigious Wizarding bloodline. Together against all odds, they form a bond-sharp, quiet, and built on an unspoken understanding. Their friendship grows over the years, a constant amidst the shifting shadows around the shifting shadows around them. But Hermione's path was never designed to be simple. She is drawn into a hefty bargain with the Dark Lord, a quest that no one truly understands. Not even Draco. The weight of it presses on her as she follows orders whispered to her, the stakes unknown, the consequences inevitable. When the truth is revealed, they will all learn what she's been hiding-and what it will cost them all.
