The Fourteenth month was coming up soon. It came every four years. If you were 14 to 18 years old during the time that the Fourteenth month appeared, you would legally and spiritually become an adult. People in the 48 sectors of Cambridge were preparing the big feast, the dances, and celebrations. The three youngest family children helped their older siblings pick out their outfits, do their nails, and decorate for their party. It was all around smiles, for the most part, but for Megan Jones, the Fourteenth month was the last thing she wanted. She never lived a real childhood. She had to work as a maid for her parents starting at the age of ten, and for the past four years, she had to live at in the attic of their family's mansion. Then, her life takes a horrible turn. She's being targeted by the Union. It means she'll have to lose her best friend, Seth, and her youngest brother. She tries to break out of this trap, but in Cambridge, nothing can ever be certain.
