Second Chances
Forced to return for an 8th year at Hogwarts, war veteran and member of the Golden Trio, Hermione Granger plans for a year of studying and keeping to herself. A growing divide between herself and her long-time friends pushes her to the outskirts of her group, and she takes the opportunity for some long-overdue peace and quiet. This is her second chance at enjoying her time at school and learning as much as she can. They weren't friends, they certainly were not together, yet she somehow felt wounded that his misery was kept a secret. Not for the purpose of helpful intent, no it was much more selfish than that. She was hurt because he didn't tell her his suffering was just as bad as hers, if not worse. Learning of his turmoil made her giddy because, now, she was not the only one stuck in the past, still drowning in the misery the war left behind. He was just as broken as she was.Complete
