She always bends.

When her reality changes for the worse, so does she. Because it's only when the slope steepens does she find her footing. It's when the light dims and fades.

In the stifling November air of the city, her head lifts to the night sky. Specks of snow flicker yellow as they hang in the dingy streetlight glare.

Her hair flits black daggers in the wind. With eyes glazing and her high on the brink, the shadow approaching doesn't go unnoticed.

He's a dark flash.

Evan looks again to the sky, the frame filled with blackness and snowflake, his hands, his face, and all the red.
