The supernatural doesn't always take the form of an overpowered hero, an alien race threatening mankind, or a world inhabited by nymphomaniac mermaids. In the world of Nick Flieger, disillusioned 17 year old in search of a higher purpose, it takes the form of the Milites, a secret organization that performs good deeds for mankind.
When a mysterious red-haired girl arrives at Nick's bathroom door with the opportunity to join the Milites and abandon humanity's social structure, what can he do but accept her offer? In the days that follow, however, he learns that having superpowers doesn't transform him into a superhero - instead of giving him a purpose, they lay him bare to the structure of society more than ever before, leaving Nick to find who he truly wants to be.
Before he can even do this, Nick is pulled into a conflict that involves the mysterious head of the Milites and the structure of the organization itself, showing him that even in a supernatural world, good and evil are never clearly separated.
Deceitful Wings is a humorous, soul-searching, supernatural mystery with only a smidgen of parody. Just like grandma used to make.
