Sapphire is the daughter of Blue Diamond and thus, is the heir to the Blue Diamond Kingdom of the east. However she is fatally ill, and her only wish was live her remaining days in happiness and away from the kingdom. Her original assigned body guard had retreated back into her gem and was to be crushed for failing to protect her from a treacherous group who called themselves the Crystal Gems. So a new body guard was assigned to her, one that went by the name of Ruby.

Instead of shattering the gem, white diamond decided to keep them as they were a rare cut gem with an abnormal two gems instead of one. After the discovery, they decided to name the gem, Y/N. After Pink shattered, Y/N was heavily protected and had a harness around her at all times, always around either the diamonds or heavily guarded by two topazes and a jasper. After the explosion, she was founded by The Crystal Gems and was officially their 'hostage'.
