Zap's life is perfectly normal. Or at least it is until her best friend and grandfather dies of old age. After his death she befriends the "odd kid," Janie and learns the truth about herself: she has the Power Over Words. With the help of Janie and her best friend Mel, Zap discovers the secrets behind the tattoos, her dad's disappearance and her grandfather's death. She meets the Inked and the Bare, people who only exist in kid stories. But when her life is threatened, Zap must team up with unlikely allies to save herself and the new world she's come to love.
