Jacob isn't what you'd consider a normal teenager. He alienates himself from others because he doesn't trust anyone since hes been hurt in the past. The one girl that accepts him for who he is is moving away and he doesn't know how to cope with this. So he goes on this trip to find her uncertain of his own emotions, not sure if he really wants her back. With no parents or no friends he discovers what it truly means to be alone.
