Beatrice Prior works for a secret agency called the CAIA, the Central Abnegation Intelligence Agency. Head master Marcus Eaton assigns her to transfer to Dauntless to find and kill a major threat to the city, but she finds things she never would have expected about herself, her family, and the society she lives in.
