Mai Nomi is a fourteen year old supermodel who was given the chance of a life time: Attend Hope's Peak Academy, a school for the super talented and Japan's hope. When she steps through the iron gates into her new life though, the world crumbles down upon her. Awakening on a train heading for a looming castle, she meets a few other kids who are just as confused as she is with their new environment.
Arriving at their destination, an old and decrepit city, a monochrome owl tells her and fifteen other students that their new world is one where they kill or are killed. Now that she's trapped in the city with no way of escape, how will Mai fare? Will she crumble to the will of despair or will she rise to shine with hope? All that is certain in this city is that the population will dwindle with time and that despair will never fully die.
(This is a story heavily based on the game series/anime "Dangan Ronpa" which I do not own. One or two major spoilers are present at the end of the story, however, no knowledge of Dangan Ronpa is needed. It is advised, though, that you know the simple mechanics of Dangan Ronpa.)
