Ava is a 17 year old girl who has learned to rely on herself to get through life. With a Mom who is hopelessly addicted to drugs and a Dad who she feels is to blame for her hardships, Ava has become rigid and hardened to the point where she never lets anyone get to close. Then one day her world is abruptly turned upside down when her Mom suddenly dies from a drug overdose and she is sent to live with her Dad in a small beachside town in South Carolina.

There she soon meets Haydyn, Jenni, and Mason. Jenni and Mason soon become her good friends and help to lift her spirits. Haydyn though, stays reserved but somehow seems to intrigue her in a way she doesn't understand.

It isn't long before she also meets Liam, a rich boy who secretly lives a criminal lifestyle and who also is the town's star athlete. A mysterious rivalry between Haydyn and Liam is intense and Ava feels like Haydyn is hiding something. When the truth comes out who will be the one to fall? Has Ava found herself a place of peace or has she just been put in a worse situation than she was in before?
