Matthew, his mother dead, papa depressed and hating his brother has to face his hardships alone.
He watches people he loves walk in and walk out again.
He sits and listens to people's hollow, emotionless voices "sorry for your loss"
He congratulates his papa on what the doctor said just to see him fall back to his knees.
He needs some form of escape.
