Maxine Skies and her best friend Koana live in the modern world where demons have invaded and are murdering people all over the globe. Her parents are archeologists that discover a tablet in Egypt that leads to a promising power that could save them.
While they are gone, Max ends up finding a book that curses her with a tattoo, and while she figures out what it is, she meets an ancient female warrior with the powers of the sun. Thinking that's her savior from the demons trying to kill Max.... it turns out the warrior wants her dead, too.
Not only that, Max is haunted by a man in a mirror, claiming to be from a different planet. His charming personality makes Max think it's a ruse, especially since everybody wants her killed. Unable to shake him off, she now has to find a way to break the curse set upon her so she can survive.
If only she can figure out who's actually on her side.
