It is based primarily on the storyline from AMC's The Walking Dead, and uses the characters and relationships from the show. It begins just before the first battle with the Saviors (the end of season 7 of the show), and assumes the storyline follows Robert Kirkman's comic going forward. If you are not a reader of the comic, there may be some Season 8 spoilers here if the show follows the book closely.
