❝Blood must have blood.❞

Grounders believe in that one sentence. They let it rule their choices, their lives even.
It has always been their way of life and it probably always will be.

But are there children scared of death and brutality? There is one.

This is Valika's story about being a pariah within her people's walls and beyond them.

When the one part of her life she thought of as a constant is taken away by intruders, the once so scared grounder changes. The change doesn't only scare her, it rules her.

One sentence starts ruling her life.

❝My people's blood will be answered by the enemy's blood.❞

Can her people stop her? Can her friend stop her?
Or is it in the hands of the enemy to prove her wrong and save her broken soul?

[season 1 + grounder culture & aspects from season 1-3]

TW // torture

edit (1/3/2018): i wrote this when i was 14 so please bare with me here lol. i'm currently thinking of rewriting this as the story contains a (in my opinion) toxic relationship that i feel is highly romanticized.

THE REASONS || Bellamy Blake ~ the 100 by KylieRutledge17
82 parts Complete Mature
BOOK I: The Reasons - the ground is unforgiving. So is survival. Madison Cameron was born in space, a child of the Ark, never feeling the sun on her skin or breathing the fresh, unfiltered air of Earth. She's never experienced the sensation of water, the way it would flow against her or lap around her as she swam. For three generations, humanity has clung to the Ark, floating in the cold vacuum of space, its fragile walls the only barrier between them and extinction. The Ark was all they knew-sterile, artificial, far from the dangers and beauty of Earth below. But now, the Ark is dying. It can't sustain them much longer. They are the last hope of mankind, a fragile chance for survival. The Earth they land on, however, is nothing like they imagined. It's not a fresh start or paradise - it's a nightmare. The air is toxic, wildlife monstrous, and every step is a battle for survival. The Earth is alive, but it's unforgiving. Amidst this chaos, Madison and Bellamy Blake find themselves at the forefront, taking on the roles of leaders. Both carry the heavy weight of responsibility, knowing that the survival of the remaining human race rests in their hands. They both strive to protect their people, to do whatever it takes to ensure their survival. But where Madison is focused on the harsh reality of survival-pragmatic, calculating, determined to keep them alive - Bellamy's vision is driven by something more abstract: freedom. They clash over their ideals - her need for structure, his thirst for freedom - and every time their paths cross, the tension between them makes their already perilous situation even more volatile. Yet, the Earth continues to test them. It doesn't care about their petty squabbles or their hopes for a better future. The planet doesn't care about Madison's desire for control or Bellamy's lust for freedom. It only cares about one thing: survival. "You say that you have a whole hell of problems, but you underestimate the hell I've been through," I murmur, as he tilts his head downwards towards mine. He glances back in forth between my eyes for a moment before taking my cheek in his hand. He brings his lips centimetres from mine. "We can walk through any hell the world throws at us," he whispers finally before presses his lips against mine. ~~~~ After Hailey Arrette Kane is found as being a second child to Coralie Kane, she is forced into the Skybox per her sister's request. Her sister, Arlo Riv Kane, managed to convince her dad and the council that she needed to die in Hailey's place, allowing Hailey to live just as long as she did but in the Skybox. After her 21st birthday, which marked her fourth year in the Skybox, the council made a decision. They were going to send 100 delinquents to the ground as an experiment to see whether the level of radiation was survivable or not. In doing so, they managed to sentence almost all of them to an untimely death that was almost inevitable. With the idea of freedom, Hailey knows that she is never safe and that if weaknesses are shown, someone will use them against her. Will she be able to overcome her emotional and mental walls, even if it means that she'd be vulnerable? Being on the ground will change Hailey in ways that the people on the ark would never expect. She will find a better version of herself. Hailey will become what she was always meant to be, a warrior.
