Anna, who is ten years old, lives at an orphanage. Her parents mysteriously disappeared when she was 3. She has been living with her grandparent for 5 years, but when they died and she has none to go to she starts living at an orphanage.
Life at the orphanage would be boring if it weren't for her friends Charlotte, and Hazel. All three of them are shy, love books, and wish their life was more interesting. Well that's just what they're going to get....
