"Why do you call me Hansol instead of Vernon? Vernon is much easier to say." He watches me. I could feel his eyes on me but I couldn't answer him. Not now at least. I continued to flip through a Korean magazine; flipping each page, quickly.
"You know, if you'd let me teach you Korean, you'd actually be able to read that magazine instead of glancing at each page." He put his hand on the glossy, colorful page. Breaking my focus I looked up at him. Something was different about the way he was looking at me. His eyes darkened, the stars and sparkles faded. He seemed tense.
"Hansol please... I am read-" I stopped myself. Because I wasn't really reading the magazine. He was right; I was just glancing.
