Sixteen year old Aurelia Patel had just moved to Lincoln High School.
She got on with her life; she did what other kids her age did. She made friends, socialized, and spent her weekends alone in her room watching shows on Netflix.
Soon she realized that everyone in her new school played a sport, so she decided to pick up swimming.
But what happens when she learns that everything in this school is a competition? What happens when she realizes that only the five swimmers that get the top times in the final meet get a chance to stay on the team? How does a typically friendly soul adapt to surviving in a war zone?

Soleil Dubois was the sweetest person you could ever meet. Her name meant 'sun' in French and that was exactly what she was. Sunshine. But don't let that sweet personality fool you because she was sarcastic and had the mouth of a sailor. Cursed like one too. What's worse is that those football games would be more often and both schools would be playing against eachother. The worst thing is that Elias and Soleil are assigned together for the program, meaning they have to spend more time together. Victore Academy boarding school is a lot of things. To the outside world, it's the heaven of schools. For some students, it's an experience they'll never forget. For others, it's the place to start their careers. And maybe for a few, it's the peak of their lives and really as good as it's going to get for them. And for me... well, I'll need a bit more than this to talk about that. But before you step in, here's a few things that everyone makes note of: 1. The students have secrets. And money. It's hard to tell what more of, honestly. 2. Don't get a room on the West Side of the girl's dorms. The birds around that private property lake house downside from campus don't stop chirping at 5AM. It's unpleasant, to say the least. 3. Avoid Mr. Labadee's classroom at all costs outside of lessons, especially past fifth period. It's better off if you're left in the dark with this one. 4. That asshole from Spain that terrorizes all the young freshmen is not hot. However, girls do make note of the fact that he works out post seventh period and right before first, near the track field. 5. The Victor's Tournament happens every year for all the senior year students. It's a pretty big deal. 6. Now, she's officially getting away from her alcoholic mother. Tara was excited to move into her new apartment, which the scholarship provided, and she was even happier to meet her flatmate. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. Some may argue that in sports, a little competition is good... until it results in an innocent person's death, then the whole story changes. And as investigations are conducted and confessions are made, Akwasi soon realises that some friendships are worth more than titles and medals.
