The only thing that kept dragons from becoming evil are dragon hearts. They were people who earned the dragons trust.
Dragon hearts stood as a bridge between dragons and humans. As their names suggest the power from ancient dragon were given to them
                                                                        Making their hearts stronger, and making them the only ones who could control dragons.
Though once humans realized that dragon hearts could control dragons, it was not the dragons being hunted.
Humans didn't know that dragon hearts were the only ones who could keep the dragons good.
Once most of the dragon hearts were dead, dragons decided to make a deal with humans, for they felt great sorrow for the dragon hearts.
A thousand years have passed and the deal continues.

CURRENTLY REWRITING THIS STORY This is the old story, I am rewriting it I would suggest you read that one instead. This one is full of typos and plot holes so please read the other version titled "the dragons sacrifice, new version" I plan to delete this one after the other is completed Lukas is a 19 year old boy, who lives in a small village with his ill mother and young brother. This village is not all it seems though, every 10 years there is a sacrifice made to a dragon god of the mountain. Lukas was gathering some herbs at the market when he was stolen away and told he will be the sacrifice this year. What ever will he do now!!! And why does that dragon look like his childhood friend... but hotter!!? What are the secrets that have been hidden from him, who can he truly trust? Warning!! Slight sexual content but no smut or lemon! Long ago, there was a world known as Ryugaeia. It was a peaceful world where dragons and humans lived in harmony. Dragons were the keepers of the elements and humans were keepers of the world. Time passed and the Dragons and humans formed an alliance. The Dragons could lend their powers to the humans and the chosen human of each dragon became one with the dragon, inheriting great strength and elemental powers. However there was one dragon Armageddon, a dark dragon who hated humans, jealous of their duty as rulers of Ryugaeia. Armageddon revolted and awakened an army of Dark Dragons, then joining forces with an equally evil human warlord, he terrorized Ryugaeia. When evil was at its peak, a new hope was created. It was the Dragonhaärt. All the good dragons combined their spirits and a Dragonheart was born. This heart could control all dragon powers put together and Armageddon was defeated and sealed. This was however at a terrible price. Dragons suffered extinction and the Dragonheart was lost forever. Prophets and seers prophesied the return of the Dragonheart and the final defeat of Armageddon. In time all this came to be known as "The Tragic Legend." As to when the Dragonheart would return, no one knew.
