In an alternate reality (well, more like a spin-off sort-of-thing), Frederick "Jason" P. Todd is just trying to fit in to the world around him. As if living with his single mom in a run-down apartment that looks like a garage wasn't tough enough, Jason also has to tackle the responsibilities of being a part-time architect, paying for his side of the rent (he and his mom split their money for the bills - Jason pays for his phone, his crappy TV, his food, his room and bathroom electricity, and his bathroom plumbing), and trying to not look like an idiot in front of his all-time crush, Stephanie Madison (whose father is the NYPD Police Chief). Not to mention the fact that he lives in the Lower East Side, the worst part of Manhattan (in his opinion). All the thugs and gangs always mugging people and jumping them and raping them. His emotional-control-issues are starting to get out of hand. When tragedy strikes him, he finds himself alone. Nobody to take care of him, nobody to protect him, when he's barely protected inside his own apartment! The night of the tragedy struck him. Something just clicks in his head. With his suit, his blades, martial arts training/studying, and longing for revenge, he fights criminals practically to the brink of death as the vigilante known as Red X.
