Magic was unequivocally real. It was the kind of magic you read about in books. The kind that speaks of fairytales and myths; of heroes and knights; of kingdoms and realms, and monsters and demons. It was the kind of magic you dismiss as soon as you close your book or turn off your TV. But that doesn't stop it from existing. Nevertheless this was also real life, and in real life happy endings weren't exclusive for the good guys.

Lia was raised on those fairytales and myths. She breathed them. Magic was infused within her (quite literally and figuratively) just as it was infused within her town, coursing through every nook and cranny. However, danger was brewing in the distance, looming and threatening the foundations of her life.
