This story takes place in an alternative reality, in what is now Ireland, during an ice age (referred to as the ice curse). The story takes place in prehistoric times.
Luan is the first protector for the Tribe of the Broken Mountain ever since the ice curse ended. When she is on watch one night, she sees the development of a strange settlement. When she reports it to her pendragon, she is told that the dragon in control of the ley of the land for her area, Endellion, is possibly imprisoned here. But when she arrives to redeem the dragon, she is put through a situation she has never been in before.

A ray of hope that takes form in her Elvish companion, Legolas. Facing darkness from the likes of which she's never seen and feelings from the likes of which she's never felt, it's safe to say that this battle is going to be harder than any that Allora has ever fought before in her long life.
